Itís Your Call
Build your knowledge about domestic abuse in the Jewish community without leaving your home or office by taking part in the Call to Action National Network". This series of eight conference calls was created not only to teach people aboutand build commitment tothe issue but also to guide and support grass-roots and organizational work that is already underway.
On June 10, a group of 30 people from around the countryincluding five rabbis representing different religious viewpointstook part in the second in the series of calls. This call explored strategies to engage and involve clergy and synagogues in the work to fight domestic abuse in the Jewish community.
Rabbi David Rose of Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac, Md., facilitated the call and told how he became involved in the issue. He then opened up the discussion to participants, among them activists, clergy, community workers, social workers and clinicians.
