Flower Project Grows in 2004
In 2004, JWI's Mother's Day Flower Project had its best year yet, thanks to the hard work of Project Chair Hedda Matza-Haughton and her committee.
By delivering flowers to nearly 150 battered-women's shelters across the country on Mother's Day, JWI sent a message of encouragement and support to thousands of women and their families.
More than 75 JWI chapters and 25 synagogues and collaborating organizations took part this year, the sixth for the project, building a truly national effort in support of abused women and their children. Sigma Delta Tau, JWI's sorority partner, also contributed to this year's record-breaking campaign.
More than $50,000 was raised to support the JWI Women's Economic Security Fund. The fund underwrites both national and local programs that promote economic independence for abused women.
